Most infections of the respiratory system start with colonization and infection in the nasopharynx, and in the upper respiratory tract. Most respiratory infections are of viral origin, with respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), Influenza A and B viruses, para-Influenza 1, 2, and 3 viruses, and adenoviruses being the most frequent causative agents. The proportion of respiratory infections caused by any one of these viruses is seasonal and related to geographical area.
MonoFluo Kits and MonoFluo Screen
Immunofluorescence techniques and use of monoclonal antibodies allows the direct detection of these viruses in clinical specimens without the need for cell culture. |
